Al Uzair

According to Islamic tradition, Uzair was a man very close to God who, due to his momentary loss of confidence or displeasure in seeing Jerusalem destroyed, falls into a deep sleep for about a hundred years and is then awakened or resurrected by God himself. The Koran does not refer directly to the name of Lazarus, but recalls the resurrection of a dead man among the miracles of Jesus (III, 43/49). The Muslim historian Ibn al-Athīr, (1160-1233) writes that the resurrected man was called “ʿĀzir”.
